+ OBITUARY + Jeanne (Sather) Chandler, wife of teacher emeritus Bill Chandler, departed this life on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at her home in Grand Island. Bill Chandler was principal at Trinity Lutheran School, Grand Island, for 29 years prior to his retirement in 2001. Bill and Jeanne were married on July 18, 1959. Mrs. Chandler was born March 3, 1939. Jeanne enjoyed volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grand Island, caring for her children and grandchildren, and caring for many foster children from Nebraska Children's Home Society and Nebraska Health and Human Services. Jeanne is survived by her husband, their 10 children: daughters, Kathryn and Jack Eans of Woodland Park, Colo.; Angie Sirabella of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Angela and Dustin Vokes of Grand Island; sons, David of Ault, Colo.; Paul and Tama of Bamako, Mali, Africa; Troy of Grand Island; Dewey and Shelby of Cozad; Steve and Terrie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Jonah and James at home; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Denise and Chester Peterson and Linda and Peter Pfenning, both of Granite Falls, Minn.; and one brother, William Sather of Nevis, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grand Island. An inurnment will be held at a later date.
